You don’t need to choose a specific major when starting your college experience. This program is intended to help students who either are not sure what academic area they would like to study or were not directly admitted to a specific program. In most cases, if you use your first year to take courses that fulfill the Global Miami Plan and divisional requirements, you can still complete a major program with no delay. However, to complete some majors in a four-year time period, you must begin them as a first-year student.

Career Options

Students in Exploratory Studies have a totality of career options ahead of them. Through exploration, they can define academic and professional goals and build a strong foundation to achieve them before making a final decision about a major.

Curriculum and Courses

In partnership with your success navigator, you will select coursework through which you can explore majors that align with your interests while also satisfying the requirements of the Miami Plan, a flexible core curriculum that students in all majors complete.
