The Instructional Design and Educational Technology Certificate provides burgeoning learning designers with foundations for the design, development, and integration of technology to promote learning. Our online program is designed to provide hands-on experience and allows students to individualize their program to meet their professional goals.

Curriculum and Courses

The Instructional Design and Educational Technology Graduate Certificate consists of five classes including three foundation design courses and two electives.

  • EDP 631: Foundations of Instructional Design and Technology
  • EDP 632: Instructional Design Theories and Models
  • EDP 633: Formative/Summative Evaluation of Learning Design
  • EDP 583: Game-based Learning Design
  • EDP 537: Blended and Online Learning Design

Career Options

This certificate provides a foundation in learning design for those interested in becoming or currently working as learning designers, developers and trainers in business, industry, health care, higher education and other workplace environments.

Admissions Requirements

The Instructional Design and Educational Technology certificate is available to current and newly admitted Miami graduate students, without regard to their degree-seeking status. Applicants must have an undergraduate degree and they must have earned at least a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate degree.
