Miami University’s Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Chemical Engineering degree program meets the evolving demands of the chemical industry and environmental agencies with a dynamic and rigorous graduate course of study. Equipping graduates with versatile skills and a forward-thinking mindset, our chemical engineering program encompasses a robust curriculum that spans key areas of chemical engineering. Students can complete the 30-credit program within one year on a full-time basis or opt for a flexible, two-year timeline that accommodates working professionals as well as international and non-traditional students.
Curriculum and Courses
We recommend prospective students hold a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemistry, or physics.

Application Requirements
The chemical engineering admission requirements are:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 2.75 GPA
- Curriculum vitae
- Statement of purpose
- Two letters of recommendation
- Test Scores:
- TOEFL – 95
- IELTS – 7.0
- Duolingo – 125
- PTE – 65
Non-Miami students must submit GRE scores. International applicants must have a TOEFL score of at least 95.
Chemical Engineering Program Prerequisites
We recommend prospective students hold a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemistry, or physics.
Non-engineering applicants must complete the following prerequisites before formally enrolling in the M.Eng. in chemical engineering program:
- CPB 324 Chemical and Bio-Engineering Computation and Statistics or equivalent (MME 202 or CSE 271 or ECE 302)
- MTH 245 Differential Equations for Engineers or MTH 246 Linear Algebra and Differential Equations for Engineers
- CPB 204 Mass and Energy Balances I
- CPB 318 Transport Phenomena
