The Contextualizing Social Problems Microcredential covers how social scientists study and understand social problems, with a focus on addressing contemporary societal challenges. You’ll learn to identify social issues, invoke evidence-based theories and strategies to address social problems, and recognize the effects these problems can have on individuals and society. By the end of the Microcredential, you will have the tools to engage with and have an impact on the societies you live and work in.
To earn this credential, the Contextualizing Social Problems Pathway must be successfully completed with a C- or higher, which includes the following courses:
- ASO 201 – Introduction to Applied Social Research (3)
- SOC 201 – Social Problems (3)
This program is hybrid synchronous with some required on-campus meetings, virtual meetings, and online coursework.
