Open to all majors. The Criminology minor focuses on
- applying the sociological perspective in relation to crime and criminal law
- examining adult and juvenile offending
- critically evaluate the role of the criminal justice system as well as criminal justice actors and institutions (e.g., law enforcement, corrections)
- demonstrating the use of the social scientific method to study crime.
A crucial element of this minor is the completion of an internship in an agency, program, or organization within the criminal justice system. (20-50 semester hours)
ELIGIBILITY
With the exception of the fieldwork, courses must be taken for a grade (not credit/no-credit). Students planning to take this minor should consult with the chief departmental adviser.
