Explore Earth Science and the Environment
The Geology Minor at Miami University is a popular option for both science and non-science majors who want to better understand the Earth and today’s environmental challenges. This 18-credit hour program introduces key concepts in earth science, geology, and environmental studies, giving students a strong foundation in how Earth systems shape our world.
With growing global focus on sustainability and human impact on the environment, this minor explores topics such as climate change, natural resources, natural hazards, and environmental change. It’s an excellent complement to majors across campus and prepares students with valuable knowledge for careers related to environmental policy, conservation, sustainability, education, and beyond.
This minor requires 18 semester hours.
Eligibility
A minimum 2.25 GPA is required for all courses in this minor. Courses must be taken for a grade (not credit/no-credit). Courses must be selected observing all prerequisites. Students planning to take this minor should consult with the lead departmental advisor.
This minor is not available to students majoring in Geology, Earth Science, or Environmental Earth Science.
