Explore German. Expand Opportunities.
The German Minor at Miami University equips students with practical language skills and a global perspective rooted in the rich cultural, historical, and economic influence of the German-speaking world.
In addition to developing proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, students explore topics in German literature, society, science, and international business—preparing for careers in STEM, diplomacy, global trade, and education. With over 100 million native speakers, German is a leading language in Europe and a valuable asset in today’s global job market.
The minor requires 18 credit hours at the 200 level or above, and pairs well with majors in engineering, international studies, political science, and business.
Eligibility
A minimum 2.0 GPA is required for all courses in this minor. This minor consists of courses above the 100 level; all courses in German (except those offered credit/no-credit) must be taken for a grade.
