The Introduction to Geospatial Technologies Microcredential equips learners with valuable skills in spatial data analysis, digital mapping, and geospatial technology, opening pathways to diverse career opportunities. You’ll explore the historical and contemporary uses of mapping technology, and the crucial role it plays in addressing current urban, political, and environmental issues, while also identifying key ethical and privacy concerns raised by its use. You will also hone your analytical and problem-solving skills in interpreting mapped, spatial, and empirical data and identifying spatial problems. By the end of this credential, you will demonstrate technical proficiency with tools such as ArcGIS and Google Earth, including the processes involved in remote sensing and geospatial analysis.
To earn this credential, the Introduction to Geospatial Technologies Pathway must be successfully completed with a C- or higher, which includes the following course:
- GEO 242 – Mapping a Changing World (3)
This course is online asynchronous; there are no requirements to come to campus.
