The Mathematics minor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio builds on a strong foundation in calculus and linear algebra—courses already required for many majors—to help students deepen their mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills. By completing three upper-level courses in theoretical and/or applied mathematics, you’ll gain advanced competencies that support careers and graduate study in STEM, analytics, finance, economics, and related fields.
Students from majors such as computer science, physics, chemistry, engineering, economics, and other disciplines frequently choose the math minor to strengthen their analytical and quantitative skills.
Eligibility
A minimum 2.0 GPA is required for all courses in this minor. Courses must be taken for a grade rather than credit/no-credit. Students planning to take this minor should consult with the lead departmental adviser. This minor is not available to majors in Mathematics, Mathematics and Statistics, or Mathematics Education.
