Study Spanish for a Better World!
Our Spanish, B.A., program will help you form strong oral and written communication skills in both Spanish and Portuguese, and it will develop your capacity for critical thinking and cultural literacy.
Our department offers a rich undergraduate program that allows for the study of the literature, language, and cultures of the Hispanic and Lusophone worlds from a broad range of perspectives: film studies, gender studies, creative writing, history, and more.

Curriculum and Courses
Among the requirements for the Spanish major are courses in Latin American and Peninsular Spanish cultural studies, linguistics, and Spanish for medical, business, and community work. These classes provide the broadest possible exposure to the many aspects of Hispanic language, history, and culture as well as opportunities to use Spanish in professional settings as a means to optimize students’ career possibilities after graduation.

Study Abroad
The Department offers an array of study abroad programs in Spanish-speaking countries. Workshops and Education Abroad programs in Winter and Summer Terms are run by Miami faculty in Spain and Latin America.
