Additional Opportunities

Externships
Students in our program complete three external clinical placements. These include an adult hospital setting, pediatric outpatient setting, and school setting. Your clinical placements will be coordinated with the graduate program and supervised by licensed speech-language pathologists.

Clinical Experiences
Students begin working in the Miami University Speech & Hearing Clinic during their first semester. They also complete community rotations in audiology, child language, adult long-term care, voice, diagnostics, and PRN.

Research
In both degrees, students are immersed in clinical research. Students in the M.A. program complete a research thesis within one of the research labs at Miami University. Students in the M.S. program complete an evidence-based practice project in which they synthesize research to develop a best practice statement for a challenging clinical question.
