Prepare for a Risk Assessment Career

The Actuarial Science minor will prepare you for a possible career as an actuary, one who assesses and manages risk.

Courses in the minor may also be used to satisfy requirements of a major. The extensive prerequisites for the minor reflect the fact that most students in this program will have a major in mathematics and statistics. (28 semester hours)

Eligibility

A minimum 2.0 g.p.a. is required for all courses in this minor. Courses must be taken for a grade (not credit/no-credit). This minor satisfies the Thematic Sequence requirement of the Global Miami Plan for students majoring in Mathematics and/or Statistics. Students planning to take this minor should consult with the chief departmental adviser.
