Gain Environmental Expertise
If you are interested in biological, earth, and physical sciences, or environmental engineering, the Environmental Science co-major complements your major especially well.
Environmental Science emphasizes earth science and life science approaches to understanding environmental processes while preparing you to work in resource management or environmental consulting.
Curriculum and Courses
A required introductory environmental science core course (IES 275), usually taken in the sophomore year, is typically team-taught by a biological scientist and an earth scientist and emphasizes the mix of scientific approaches to understanding environmental issues. Students take an advanced environmental science course (IES 431) as a synthesis experience, and for the practicum requirement take a field course, study abroad, or mentored independent study. Other courses in the social and natural sciences are used to complete the requirements of the co-major.
