Turn History Into Opportunity
The History, M.A. degree program prepares students for work in a wide range of fields. Students in this program develop high-level skills in analysis, narrative, and strategy assessment, which employers repeatedly say they are seeking in employees.
Students will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and develop a thesis project that is best suited to their goals beyond Miami (traditional research thesis, podcast, museum exhibit, website, etc.).

A Degree That Holds Its Worth
Combined Bachelor’s and Master’s History Program
The History Department offers a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree program that enables students with any undergraduate major, who have taken at least 3 history classes, to earn a Master’s degree with only one additional academic year beyond their undergraduate degree.

Admission Requirements
The Department bases admission decisions on academic performance as well as on the quality of a personal statement (1-2 pages) about the field of interest and career objectives; an academic writing sample (5-10 pages), preferably on a historical topic; and 2 letters of recommendation, with one by a history faculty member. Students must have completed their bachelor’s degree upon entering the program.
