Create Original Works of Music
The Minor in Music Composition allows you to explore the craft of creating original works of music.
In addition to taking courses in music theory and music technology, you’ll engage with other student composers in Composition Seminar, led by our nationally recognized faculty.
Eligibility
This minor is open to all university students. A portfolio review is required for entrance to the degree program.

Music Admission Requirements
To pursue a music program, you must apply both to Miami University and to the Department of Music. These are separate processes, but you may complete them concurrently—no need to wait for a University admission decision before applying to the Department.
Note: A successful audition or portfolio review is required for admission.
