Combine Compassion and Expertise
Miami University’s Nursing program cultivates future nurse leaders through a vibrant, liberal arts education and a student-centered environment grounded in values of Leadership, Integrity, Excellence, Caring, and Collaboration. With a focus on innovative teaching and evidence-based practice, the program prepares students to deliver competent, holistic care. Faculty empower students to excel professionally and make meaningful contributions to help individuals, families, and communities.
Nursing is one of the fastest-growing professions, driven by the increasing healthcare needs of an aging population and the retirement of experienced RNs. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates over one million new nursing positions will need to be filled in the next decade. With a 55+ year legacy of excellence in nursing education, Miami University is the ideal place to prepare for a rewarding career and join the next generation of compassionate healthcare professionals.
Same High-Quality Program, Two Campuses
Miami University offers direct admission to Nursing at our main campus in Oxford, Ohio, and at the Regionals, in nearby Hamilton. Whether you prefer a classic, residential college experience or want greater convenience for commuting, the coursework is the same at both, and all students enjoy the same clinical opportunities.
Oxford BSN
As a highly competitive, direct admission program, Oxford Nursing only accepts high school applicants. Students enjoy a full residential experience and learning alongside students in other healthcare disciplines within Miami’s modern Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness Facility.
Regionals BSN (Hamilton)
Direct admission to Regionals Nursing is also competitive, but our commuter campus accepts applications from a broad spectrum of students — high school, college transfer, and current Miami students. Convenience and cost attract students who have personal responsibilities beyond college, and the Regionals Nursing Innovation Hub provides access to sophisticated equipment and facilities.

Curriculum and Courses
Both our Oxford and Hamilton campuses offer the same curriculum of liberal arts and professional nursing courses. The Nursing curriculum prepares graduates to address diverse healthcare needs through a strong foundation in liberal education, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement. The program emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and professionalism, equipping students to provide patient-centered care and promote health across various healthcare environments. The program emphasizes the nursing process as it pertains to health promotion and health restoration for clients, families, and populations in communities and in acute care settings.
At Miami, there’s something for everyone.
Clinical Agencies
Students receive an introduction to clinicals at the end of the sophomore year and participate in off-campus clinicals two days per week during the junior and senior years.
Our hospital and clinical agencies are located in the Cincinnati, Dayton, Fairfield, Hamilton, Middletown, and Oxford areas, and include the following (this is not an all-inclusive list of clinical partners):
Our students have multiple opportunities to partner with organizations to improve health and safety in the local communities. These include projects to improve mental health access, women’s health and education, and pediatric health promotion.
Program Opportunities
Dedicated Education Units (DEUs)
In the fall semester of their senior year, Nursing students at either campus can participate in the Dedicated Education Unit (DEU). A DEU is an immersive learning experience that pairs students with a staff nurse preceptor at a designated hospital unit for individualized mentorship and guidance. Our current DEU clinical partners include McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital and Kettering Health Hamilton Hospital.
1+3 Nursing Model at Miami Regionals
Through Miami Regionals’ innovative partnership with Butler Tech, students have the opportunity to complete the first year of the Nursing program during their senior year of high school. After successful completion of the one-year Butler Tech program and direct admission to Regionals Nursing, students can complete the BSN in three years — saving money and starting their career one year earlier than their high school peers.
Accreditation
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Miami University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
