Advocate for Society
Social workers are society’s helpers. Here, you’ll learn to work with people across the lifespan with a range of issues. Understand how to navigate nonprofits, governmental agencies, and others. Upon completion, you’ll have a foundation in topics like social and economic justice, populations-at-risk, welfare policy and services, and research.
Curriculum and Courses
Accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, this program provides a professional foundation in social work values and ethics, diversity, social and economic justice, populations-at-risk, human behavior and the social environment, social welfare policy and services, social work practice, social work research, and field practice. A few of the courses you will take in this major include:
- FSW 245 Children and Families: Ages Conception – 12
- FSW 306 Trauma Responsive Assessment and Intervention
- FSW 418 Program Development and Evaluation
- FSW 442 Family Resource Management: Education and Advocacy
- FSW 466 Interpersonal Perspectives on Adulthood and Aging

BSW graduates are eligible to apply for provisional certification as a Family Life Educator from National Council on Family Relations.
