The Professional Studies degree at Miami University is a flexible degree completion program — perfect if you’re going back to school or looking to finish your education. With this Professional Studies major, you choose two areas of study that interest you most, helping you make the most of your transfer credits. You’ll build valuable skills in communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving — skills that prepare you for many career paths or even graduate school.
This program can be completed fully online or through a combination of online and in-person courses at our Hamilton campus.
Courses That Are Uniquely Fit For You
You’ll choose two areas of concentration (cognates) from a range of subjects to design your own pathway toward a Bachelor or Arts or Bachelor of Science. What you choose maximizes transfer credits – and new courses develop in-demand skills across industries.
Cognates Include:
The award of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science is dependent upon the cognates selected:
- Humanities
- Natural Sciences and Mathematics
- Social Sciences
- Applied Fields
- Applied Management (has specific courses)
Core Courses:
The Professional Studies major keeps it simple — with only two required courses, both fully online. The rest of your major is built around the credits you transfer in and the courses you choose for your two cognate areas. It’s flexible, personalized, and designed to help you finish your degree your way.
