The B.A. in Psychology at Miami University provides students with a comprehensive understanding of human behavior, mental processes, and psychological theory within a strong liberal arts framework. Offered through the Department of Psychology, the program emphasizes critical thinking, research methods, and the scientific study of behavior across areas such as cognition, development, social psychology, personality, and mental health. Research Opportunities
The Department of Psychology has numerous faculty-run research labs covering three sub-areas for research and teaching interests. These labs offer undergraduates an opportunity to interact and learn from specialized faculty and graduate students.
Brain, Cognitive, and Developmental Sciences
Works to understand the cognitive, neurobiological, and developmental mechanisms involved in perceiving, learning, remembering, understanding, reasoning, and acting in the environment
Clinical Program
Integrates science and practice with a focus on adult psychopathology, trauma, resilience, and child psychopathology in contexts such as families, schools, communities, and cultures
Social Program
Focuses on how individuals interact with the social world and the resulting effects on health connected to prejudice, the environment, belonging, and relationships
