Become a Well-Rounded Artist
The Studio Art Minor allows you to explore and develop concepts, techniques, materials, methods, and critical aesthetic thinking as applied to any of the traditional fine arts disciplines, including Ceramics, Jewelry Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and/or Sculpture.
Eligibility
A minimum 2.50 GPA is required for admittance to the minor and is required for all courses in the minor. At least 18 semester credit hours of course work is required of the minor in the Studio Art courses, with at least 6 semester credit hours at the 300 level or higher. Students with a discipline-specific focus should meet with an advisor in the discipline after completing 9 hours of the minor to plan course work at the 300 level or higher.
Studio Art Curriculum and Courses
The Studio Art Minor allows you to choose a single focused medium (discipline-specific focus) or you may explore a varied range of media (media survey focus). (15-21 semester hours)
The discipline-specific focus encourages a depth of exploration, a deeper development of skill, processes, and techniques, and a deeper understanding of the conceptual, cultural, and historical considerations relevant to a particular media.
The media survey focus allows the student to explore a broader range of traditional fine arts media, while still encouraging some depth within one particular artistic medium.
