Exercise Creative Thought
The Creative Writing minor at Miami University offers students an engaging, hands-on writing experience paired with critical thinking skills developed through the close reading and interpretation of literary texts. Eligibility
There are no special eligibility requirements for this minor. The minor is open to all majors except English: Creative Writing.
Courses and Curriculum
The Creative Writing minor curriculum introduces students to a range of writing genres, techniques, and workshops designed to develop both craft and voice. Through hands-on courses at Miami University, you’ll practice creative writing, receive feedback from peers and faculty, and build skills that support academic, professional, and creative goals.

After completing the required course, ENG 226 Introduction to Creative Writing: Short Fiction and Poetry, the remaining hours can be chosen from writing and English electives. A sample of courses is listed below:
