Apply Computational Techniques to Molecular Biology Problems

The Bioinformatics minor at Miami University prepares you for a fast-growing, high-impact field that applies computational and data-driven techniques to molecular biology and the life sciences. You’ll build a strong foundation in biology and programming while learning how bioinformatics tools and computational methods are used to advance research and careers in academia, healthcare, biotechnology, and industry.

This minor is offered cooperatively by the Departments of Biology, Computer Science and Software Engineering, Microbiology, and Statistics and requires 19-20 credit hours.

Eligibility

A minimum 2.0 GPA is required for all courses in this minor. Students must declare the minor by completing a “Change of Major, Minor, Thematic Sequence” form in the BIO, MBI, or CSE office in order to get a transcript notation for the minor.
