Become a Problem-Solver
You’ll gain a broad bioengineering education enhanced by liberal arts courses in life sciences, economics, humanities, social sciences, and global perspectives. You’ll learn to integrate life sciences with engineering to develop solutions for healthcare-related problems as well as computing, design, and engineering systems.
Biomedical engineering integrates life sciences with engineering to develop solutions for healthcare related problems. Our multi-disciplinary approach includes biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and engineering as well as computational sciences. Graduates are prepared to design, analyze, synthesize, and test products and processes in a variety of areas, such as medical equipment and instrumentation, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, prosthetics and biomaterials. Graduates may also choose to pursue advanced study in graduate or professional degree programs. Our broad biomedical engineering education is enhanced by liberal arts courses in life sciences, economics, humanities, social sciences, and global perspectives. Biomedical engineering students can specialize in Biomechanics, Biomedical Materials, Clinical Engineering and Bioinstrumentation, or Pre-Medicine.
Curriculum and Courses
Within the biomedical engineering curriculum, students choose among the following concentrations: bioinformatics (with computational biology); biomedical engineering; bioprocessing; and pre-medical. In addition to the requirements of a concentration area, students complete bioengineering and engineering sciences courses that include bioethics, biomedical signal analysis, and biomaterials.
- CPB 204 Mass and Energy Balances I
- CPB 324 Chemical and Bio- Engineering Computation and Statistics
- CPB 417 Biomedical Engineering
- CPB 419 Biomaterials
- CPB 421 Bioethics
- CPB 471 Engineering Design I
- CPB 472 Engineering Design II
