What is Included in the Curriculum?
The curriculum for Miami University’s B.S. in Engineering Management integrates engineering, business, science, mathematics, and liberal arts. This builds well-rounded engineering and business expertise, social awareness, and interpersonal communication skills. To customize their education, students will select one of four technical concentrations. Then, they will select their preferred business track: entrepreneurship or general business. At the end, they’ll graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management.
Step 1: Choose a Technical Specialty
At Miami University, Engineering Management students choose from one of the below four technical specialties:
Electronics and Computing

By focusing on electrical and computer engineering, this concentration prepares students to manage the development of technologies like computers and electronics. As a result, graduates are ready to meet the growing demands of a world increasingly driven by electronics and computing.
Environmental Engineering

With an emphasis on sustainable problem-solving, this concentration trains students to develop practical, cost-effective solutions to environmental challenges. Therefore, graduates are well-positioned to support global progress toward a more sustainable future.
Manufacturing Engineering

Focused on product and process design, this concentration builds skills to plan, optimize, and integrate manufacturing systems. As a result, students learn to drive innovation while delivering quality products efficiently and competitively.
Paper Science and Engineering

This concentration offers an in-depth study of the pulp and paper industry by combining technical knowledge with hands-on problem-solving. Consequently, graduates are equipped to lead innovation and drive sustainability across paper-related sectors.
Step 2: Choose a Business Track
The business track coursework of our Engineering Management program allows students to learn from business faculty at Miami’s renowned Farmer School of Business.
Entrepreneurship
The Entrepreneurship track offers hands-on learning in startups, venture capital, social impact, corporate innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking. With small classes led by experienced instructors and an interdisciplinary approach, students engage in real-world projects and connect with entrepreneurial networks nationwide.
General Business
Global businesses seek employees with technical skills, business knowledge, entrepreneurial mindset, and leadership abilities. Engineering Management graduates are prepared for technical roles that involve business functions like operations, purchasing, and marketing—such as consultant, operations supervisor, technical sales, supply chain manager, and more.
