Prepare Yourself for a Global Career
The certificate combines Miami coursework with experiential learning focused on global readiness and intercultural assessments. The courses and experiences in this certificate program will provide students with the knowledge, awareness, and skills necessary for global and intercultural communication and teamwork.
Upon completion of the certificate, students will:
- Effectively apply culturally sensitive mindsets to interact with diverse individuals in our local and global communities
- Demonstrate respect when engaging with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Communicate across cultural boundaries
- Describe and demonstrate ideas of responsible global citizenship
Eligibility
The Global Readiness Certificate is open to undergraduate degree seeking students at Miami University.
Certificate Application Process
Students are encouraged to allow up to two academic years to complete all of the certificate requirements, but are welcome to begin the certificate at any time.
An orientation session and initial intercultural assessment must be completed to declare the certificate. Orientations will be held twice annually. The next session is listed below.
Global Readiness Certificate Orientation
Join us on Wednesday, Feb. 18, or Friday, Feb. 20 in MacMillan Hall for Global Readiness Certificate (GRC) Orientation.
Global Readiness Certificate orientations will be held twice per year. Students must attend an orientation and take the initial assessment to be added to the certificate program.
Global Readiness Curriculum and Courses
The certificate combines Miami coursework with experiential learning focused on global readiness and intercultural assessments. The courses and experiences in this certificate program will provide students with the knowledge, awareness, and skills necessary for global and intercultural communication and teamwork. The certificate includes components within 3 categories:
Category A: Coursework
Intercultural Consciousness Courses (12 credits)
Category B: Experiential Learning
Study Abroad or Equivalent (6 credits)*
*Petitions for a study abroad equivalent experience will be reviewed by the University Committee on Internationalization
Category C: Intercultural Assessments
Two assessments will be given, one at the start of the GRC and the other upon completion
