Understanding the Social World Around Us
The Sociology minor at Miami University provides students with a strong foundation in understanding social behavior, institutions, and patterns that shape everyday life. Through courses offered by Miami University’s Department of Sociology and Gerontology, this minor complements a wide range of majors by helping students develop critical thinking, research skills, and a deeper awareness of how social forces influence individuals and communities.

This 18 hour pre-professional minor offers three options: Law and Society, Medical Sociology, and General Sociology.
Eligibility
With the exception of the fieldwork, courses must be taken for a grade (not credit/no-credit). Students planning to take this minor should consult with the chief departmental adviser.
