Communicate With the Public
The Strategic Communication, B.A., program explores how to use communications and media to influence the opinions and behaviors of public groups.
The curriculum emphasizes an ethical approach to public relations and analyzes the impact of communication strategies on society. You will critically evaluate challenges and use strategic communication to respond to them.
MEDIA, BRANDING, AND CULTURAL TRENDS
The major in Strategic Communication prepares students for communication- and media-related careers in a range of corporate, non-profit, and public service fields. Students specialize in analyzing and influencing cultural trends and crafting messages on behalf of organizations, policies, brands, products, and social causes.

Curriculum and Courses
Students explore communication contexts, theories, and processes as a means of understanding and critically analyzing social influence. The Strategic Communication major requires students to choose and complete a minor/co-major/second major. No more than 9 credit hours may be counted toward both the completion of the Strategic Communication major and the completion of a minor, co-major, or second major. Requires a minor (all students entering in Fall 2021) or a double major (all students entering before Fall 2021). Some course selections might include:
