The Latin American, Latino/a, and Caribbean Studies (LAS) Minor offers an interdisciplinary academic experience that deepens students’ understanding of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Latino/a communities in the United States. This minor is an excellent complement to a wide range of majors, including the humanities, social sciences, education, business, and global studies. The LAS minor is open to all students.
Students pursuing the LAS minor complete 18 total semester credit hours, building a strong foundation in the cultural, historical, political, and social dynamics of the region.
Eligibility
A minimum 2.0 GPA is required for all courses in this minor. Courses must be taken for a grade (not credit/no-credit).
Courses and Curriculum
The Latin American, Latino/a and Caribbean Studies minor has a diverse and flexible curriculum with one required course with the remaining 15 hours selected from a list of courses that are complimentary and often cross-listed with Latin American, Latino/a and Caribbean Studies (LAS) courses.
