The Business Economics major is for students who want to understand decision-making and problem-solving in the context of business and social environments. The major fosters an understanding of the objectives and functions of a private enterprise economy and applies these principles to business and social problems.
Curriculum and Courses
The Economics major emphasizes a broad curriculum with additional studies in the liberal arts. With the liberal arts foundation and your economics program, you learn a way of thinking about the world rather than just acquiring the tools for one specific job. This gives you a sound underpinning not just for entry-level jobs, but for more advanced positions. Because economics majors receive a broad, theoretical background, the presidents of many large corporations have a degree in economics.
At Miami, there’s something for everyone.
Economics has taught me perseverance and how to ask for help. Even if I don’t understand something, I know I should not abandon it because it is difficult.
