Become an Energy Expert
Energy is one of the most important issues of our global modern society. A sustainable energy future will require engineering, scientific, economic, and policy approaches working together to meet the technological, institutional, and environmental challenges.
OUR GOALS
The goal of an Energy Co-major is to provide students with core interdisciplinary training in energy that complements their disciplinary majors in engineering, natural sciences, architecture, business, and the social sciences. This co-major exposes students to the principles of energy production and distribution, energy supply and demand, pollution control and building systems, and energy policy and regulation. Students can pursue career paths in the energy industry and startup companies, consulting firms, and non-profit organizations.
The Energy co-major prepares you for advanced study in an energy-related field or for a professional career in industry, consulting, government, or non-profit organizations. The co-major is designed to complement additional study in engineering, natural sciences, architecture, business, and the social sciences.
Curriculum and Courses
You will take courses that will touch on all areas of science, including physical science, math and statistics, policy, building systems, climate, and practicum and synthesis. The co-major requires 34-45 semester hours. Depending on your major, some of these credits may also count toward your primary major or as Miami Plan Foundation courses.
