Miami’s Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Undergraduate Endorsement Certificate will prepare you to work effectively with English learners.
Our courses provide real-world understanding and practical strategies to address the linguistic, cultural, and academic issues facing English learners and their teachers in schools.

Open to all teacher licensure majors.
TESOL Curriculum and Courses
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Undergraduate Endorsement Certificate provides undergraduate teacher licensure candidates with the knowledge, skills, and experiences that will prepare them to meet the challenges of English learners in their classrooms. The TESOL endorsement consists of a three-course focus sequence and a field-based teaching practicum experience with English learners in the schools.

- TCE 454/554 TESOL in PK-12 Instructional Theory and Practice(Fall and Spring semesters)
- TCE 425 TESOL in PK-12 English Literacy Development (Spring semester only)
- TCE 418 TESOL in PK-12 Practicum (Fall and Spring semesters)
Additional Opportunities
Study Abroad
The MUDEC Immersive English Language Summer Camp gives Miami University students hands-on experience in planning, developing, and delivering curriculum for English language learners while being immersed in a cross-cultural educational environment. It is a non-credit study abroad course offered in partnership with MUDEC, the International School of Differdange and Esch-sur-Alzette (EIDE), and the Luxembourgish government.

Admission Requirement
Only students in Teacher Education, Special Education, Music Education, or Art Education may be admitted to the undergraduate TESOL endorsement.
