The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics and Statistics program at Miami University is designed for students who enjoy solving problems, working with data, and thinking critically. Curriculum and Courses

In this program, students will study a balanced coursework of both mathematics and statistics. Students will develop complex problem solving and computational skills, ability to think critically, as well as communicating intellectual findings. The training students receive will prepare them for a wealth of career opportunities.

Combined Degree Program with Statistics

The combined bachelor’s–master’s program lets highly qualified students pursue both the Mathematics and Statistics, B.S. and the Statistics M.S. degrees concurrently. Students interested in this option should consult the program’s graduate director early, as it requires advance planning.

Mathematics and Statistics majors enter a variety of careers education, business, industry, and public service. Some careers include Statistician, Mathematician, Data Scientist, Financial Analyst, Market Researcher, Teacher/Professor, Actuary, Systems Analyst, and Research Scientist, among many others. Some of these careers might require a graduate degree, and majors in our mathematics and statistics program have the advantage of obtaining a very strong background for graduate programs in mathematics or other related areas.
