The Sport Management major prepares students to succeed in leadership positions in the sport industry (recreational to professional, youth to adult) by providing them with knowledge and skills to critically analyze and innovatively engage in the business and culture of sport.

The sport management major provides many diverse career opportunities and has a strong job placement rate, thanks in part to the well-rounded education and practical experience students receive with internship opportunities and a required capstone practicum experience. Students will complete courses that focus on topics such as administration, economics, ethics, facilities and event management, marketing, and analytics in sport.

Career Options
Gaining a career position in sport is competitive, and students need a strong yet unique educational experience to be positioned to achieve success in this job market. Our programs are highly regarded by employers, professional schools, and other academic institutions and our graduates go on to rewarding careers in the sport industry (recreational to professional, youth to adult). Other career options can be applied to a sport-related position, such sport marketing, sport event planning, or sport sales and sponsorship.
Additional Opportunities
Additional opportunities for SLAM students are available in and out of the classroom. All SLAM majors are encouraged to be involved with the Sport Leadership and Management student club or the Women in Sport Leadership student organization.

The Sport Analytics Summer Academy (SASA)
A four-week, on-campus summer program designed to engage students with an understanding of how sport organizations analyze, interpret, and communicate data efficiently and effectively in sport while earning 9 credit hours towards a Certificate in Sports Analytics.

Study Abroad in Sport
SLAM offers several sport-specific study abroad programs including winter term in New Zealand, spring break in Europe, or a spring semester on the Luxembourg campus. Our curriculum provides a global perspective of sport to encourage SLAM students to be culturally competent global citizens.
