Get In Touch

The SLAM program provides students with important managerial knowledge, but also critical psychosocial, socio-cultural, and developmental knowledge about sport participation to allow them to understand and provide innovative leadership related to key issues in sport. Gaining a career position in sport is competitive, and students need a strong yet unique educational experience to be positioned to achieve success in this job market. SLAM majors select a concentration in sport management, coaching, sport journalism, or sport media and communication.

Curriculum and Courses

Students take substantial coursework representing conceptual and disciplinary knowledge in sport, with an emphasis on sport leadership throughout the curriculum. There is additional required coursework in business, such as management, marketing, finance, or entrepreneurship offered by the Farmer School of Business. Most students select a minor in a business (marketing) or sport-related field (sport analytics, coaching). All SLAM students are highly encouraged to complete several internships experiences prior to graduation. Innovative new programming is available in Sport Analytics, Esports Management, and study abroad opportunities.

  • SLAM made me think of sport as something way more than just something you practice and do. I can definitely see it on more of a business level of how to market sport professionally.
